Many thanks for all the lovely feedback from my post about Zender Johan. He was clearly a much-loved figure on the Dutch pirate radio scene and will be sadly missed by many. As I update my blog it is Saturday morning and there are many stations qsoing - it seems strange he is not switching on his transmitter to give a report.

Observations
Very interesting to hear stations at just after 3pm local time in the UK today. As the days become shorter this becomes more and more possible, but to catch signals over 90 minutes before sunset is a nice surprise. In the case of Astronaut it was just a few snatches of music heard, but the signal was there nonetheless and he runs only low power.

Observations
- Decent conditions again tonight with some great signals coming through. Zwarte Arabier was heard for the first time in a good while and was absolutely blasting across the North Sea with the strongest signal of the evening. It as good also to heard Vrijevogel better than usual, while Eigen Risico was doing really well with perhaps his best signal yet at this location. The recordings below show just what reception was like:

ReplyDeleteI thought Barones was on 1645 yesterday 13th and happy to be corrected here by the 'Wizard of Medium Waves'. Given the signal strength accurate tuning wasn't actually required! Thanks for posting, Dave
ReplyDeleteHi Dave. Good to hear from you. Could be that he started off on 1647 and then moved down a little bit. Isn't it great to have decent conditions again on MW?
